Here's some good news for Destiny players thirsty for new content: A whole bunch of details surrounding Destiny expansion Rise of Iron have just been revealed in the latest issue of Game Informer, and it sounds like players are in for a Taken King-sized update. There's the new Raid, social area, and more that we already learned from the trailer, but plenty more to get excited about.
For one, Guardians are about to get a lot beefier. The Light cap will be raised to 385 upon Rise of Iron's release, climbing up to 400 when the Hard Mode version of the new Raid is implemented. To help you ascend to these new heights, the Devil's Lair and The Summoning Pits Strikes will be remixed and rebalanced so that they can be added back into rotation alongside current and new Strikes.
If PvP is more your style, you'll want to check out the new Crucible modes, Supremacy and Archon's Forge. No details on those yet, but we expect to see Supremacy at Gamescom next week. Crucible design lead Lars Bakken also tells GI that a "long-awaited feature our community has been clamoring for" will be coming in Rise of Iron. Again, no specifics, but think of what you've been clamoring for and maybe that's it.
Lastly (for now), Rise of Iron will be adding eight new artifacts that can work across classes. These artifacts are themed after the Lords of Iron, and each one has a unique ability tied to it. One eliminates the pause between sprinting so you can run, stop, and pick right up again without delay. Another eliminates your Super, but gives you two melee charges and two grenades while boosting your stats. Another lets you turn enemies against each other. Should allow for some pretty varied and wild combinations, I suspect.
Now that it's August, we've got just a little over a month before Rise of Iron hits Xbox One and PS4 on September 20.
