Batman: Arkham City's Two-Face pays homage to Dirty Harry

Who's your favorite Two-Face? Is it the tortured schizophrenic of Grant Morrison's Arkham Asylum comic, Batman Forever's uncommonly flamboyant Tommy Lee Jones, or Hush's doomed hero? Rocksteady has just unveiled its take on the character for October's Batman: Arkham City, presented in a none-too-subtle nod to one of the character's stronger influences: Clint Eastwood's maverick-cop classic, Dirty Harry.

Glimpsed in screenshots last year, which made him look like a cross between Nicolas Cage and Marvel's Red Skull, this new Two-Face design offers a better hint at which way Rocksteady looks to take the character. As ex-lawman Harvey Dent, Two-Face is often presented more as a vigilante enforcer than a straight villain. The visual reference to Dirty Harry – in which Clint Eastwood plays the original “loose cannon” cop – places the game's presentation of the character more in the tradition of the tragic “good man gone bad” seen in The Dark Knight than the out-and-out psychopath of some portrayals. What do you think?

"Who's your favorite Two-Face? Is it the tortured schizophrenic of Grant Morrison's Arkham Asylum comic, Batman Forever's uncommonly flamboyant Tommy Lee Jones, or Hush's doomed hero?" Neither, as you missed out by far the best one: Aaron Eckhart and Christopher Nolan's creepy-as-hell version in The Dark Knight.

I do like the way they do these pictures. Especially in this one. The black and white with a splash of colour makes it dark, edgy and stark and it stands to be quite visually compelling... Makes you wonder what happened to the box art.

This Two-Face is cool, my personal favorite is the one from the animated series with the half black/half white color and gray face palate. Though I am going to definitely love this game, I hope they come out with a Batman game based off of the Kevin Conroy/Mark Hamill cartoon.

Fun Fact: Clint Eastwood was originally supposed to play Two-Face is the Adam West series, but then it got cancelled.

I've always liked the "good guy-gone-bad" version of Two-Face best.
