Alice: Madness Returns releasing June 14 - your summer just got stabbier

Shares

According to CVG, EA has confirmed that Alice: Madness Returns will release June 14 for PC, 360 and PS3. We had previously expected a later release date, so the news that madness will be returning this summer fills our hearts with a rush of red, viscous joy - the same sort of joy we plan to spill lots of this June.

Madness Returns is American McGee's answer to, "Hey man, why don't you make an Alice follow-up already?" The game takes place eleven years after the eleven-year-old PC original, American McGee's Alice, and continues the story of the troubled girl with a big knife.

"It's an actual narrative sequel. It finds Alice living in London and now confronting really the mystery of what happened, as opposed to the damage related to it - though there is still a lot of psychological damage as you move into Wonderland, you'll notice," said McGee in a recent MSNBC interview.

"This game is much more like a murder mystery, it’s her going back into her past again, using her mind as a tool, using Wonderland as sort of a conduit into her mind, and trying to piece back together the events that lead to the death of her family."

Is it just me or is this the come back year of 10 plus year old games? I mean we got Duke Nukem, Marvel vs Capcom, and now Alice!

They better include the original game too, it's ultra expensive on Amazon and eBay.

Does anyone happen to know what engine it'll be on? I'm assuming it'll either be proprietary or idTech4.

Jeez? Has it really been 11 years since the original? Thanks GR, now I feel old.... If this game's anything like the first, it should be a hoot and a half. Hopefully there's some kind of catch-up on the story for those of us who can't remember a bloody thing other than the creepy Cheshire Cat and "when is a croquet mallet like a billy club? Any time you want it to be?".

Any news on a re-release of the previous game? I'll still get this even without the first game, but I would like to play the first one proper...

Hooray, now lets see some bloody gameplay.. I hate these fmv only trailers, they show us nothing of what the game itself is actually like. or are they scared of showing gameplay cause they know its crap? Lets hope not cause the first Alice was phenomenal. Lets just not talk about Bad Day LA though eh....

If all fairy tales were like this, the world would be a much better place.

@8bitBaby agreed. also, I like games like this where you're just as (and probably more) excited for the environments and symbolism wins as you are for the plot line and gameplay
