On the DmC one: 'Well done for not bowing to the fans.' Sentences later: 'Should have listened to the fans.' Devs can't win sometimes...

Okay, I'll rephrase that for you. "We respect the fact that you didn't bow to the fans, but based on the fact that they seem to have failed to make much money off of this game and our respect is worth roughly 0$, maybe they should have."

Small correction: the "crashing and resetting" thing in Batman: Arkham Asylum is actually the LAST Scarecrow appearance in the game, which made it hit doubly hard since his previous appearances were scary and/or freaky but didn't break the fourth wall.

Disagree with the charge cable annoyance. Got three Android phones in the house meaning plenty of micro USB chargers.

I think you are on the wrong article

How about that postman guy in Ocarina of Time. Even if you cheat (using an action replay or glitching the game somehow) you cannot beat him. What a jerk.

Fuck the gta 5 submarine parts. I decided to attempt to collect them after completing the main story, then got attacked by a shark when doing so. If you're gonna add bull shit collectables to your games, don't punish people for going after them
  • MikeJazzfaceTheDancingSquirrel - November 20, 2013 3:27 a.m.

lol i sense rage quit.... so you'd prefer rockstar to give you them on a silver platter?
  • Snowskeeper - May 23, 2014 11:38 p.m.

ZuzuPachulla, that's exactly why they did punish you for going after them. You just spent several hours picking up things that were totally irrelevant to the game, gave you nothing interesting at all, and put your character in danger of being attacked by sharks. That's kind of silly; I say this as an individual who spends a lot of time playing video-games and doing pointless things in them.

As a fan of the original Devil May Cry games I thought DMC was really good and a lot of fun, and laughed my ass off at the wig scene.

Im surprised there's no mention of the flag collecting side quest in Assassins Creed 2
  • Snowskeeper - May 23, 2014 11:39 p.m.

Or 1, or Brotherhood, or any of the other games that included the flags. That was awful.

It's just a xbox advert. What's the problem? Now , regarding this thread, I think that the word 'troll' and all its variations are overused. Everything that one doesn't seem to enjoy gets labeled as trolling and it's getting out of hand. While I'm not saying that most of these examples don't fit in that category, I don't consider the torturing bit in GTA as such. It's there to make a point and it adds to the story that they (Rockstar) want to tell.

    MY EYES!!!! AAAAAAA
  • Snowskeeper - May 23, 2014 11:40 p.m.

The torture bit was by no means the main point in that entry.

You know sometimes I wish you would talk about your list topics rather than your Top 7 in your podcast. They are at times, far more interesting or/and funny. OH! or do both! :D

Vanquish may not straight up troll its players, but its plot, characters, and achievement titles troll contemporary real-life politicians and situations. The in-game president looks exactly like Hillary Clinton. Burns at one point says that she started the war with Russia as an "economic stimulus package" to get the country out of a recession, clearly trolling Obama's 2009 stimulus bill and, indirectly, Keynsian economists who argue that World War II ended the Great Depression (looking at you, Krugtron the Invincible). I think the achievements for finishing the game on medium and hard difficulty are called "End to Major Combat Operations" and "Mission Accomplished," which both troll Bush's speech on the deck of the aircraft carrier when he said that the Iraq war was over. I'd consider the original Bioshock a pretty clear case of player trolling. ***spoiler warning*** You thought you were the good video game guy, murdering and destroying everything in Rapture to bring down the evil tycoon and save the innocent worker and his family? Nope. You're a brainwashed puppet who does whatever he's told, you've been working for the REAL bad guy the entire time, and you just killed the only other person that could have possibly stopped him and thrown the city into even greater chaos. Nice going, a-hole! ***end spoiler***
  • chriszewski - November 19, 2013 8:54 a.m.

I'd argue that the "economic stimulus package" was a reference to Bush's attempt to inject the government's money back into the economy by giving taxpayers some of their tax money back. About as dumb as starting a war... Wait, he did that too. Hmmm....
