Yaiba Ninja Gaiden Z announced, brings together undead, Keiji Inafune and Ryu Hayabusa
New game from Mega Man creator full of blood and ninjas
Tokyo Game Show technically hasn't begun yet, but news from the show is rolling in anyway. It was already known that Keiji Inafune, creator of Mega Man and former Capcom big wig, had a new game brewing called Yaiba, but Wednesday night at a Team Ninja event in Tokyo a whole new aspect of the game was revealed. Yaiba brings together Inafune's Comcept studio with Spark Unlimited (Lost Planet 3) and Team Ninja, and its full name is Yaiba Ninja Gaiden Z. You play as a resurrected ninja named Yaiba that's cutting his way through zombies in a search for revenge against Ryu Hayabusa, the hero of the Ninja Gaiden series. Here's the first trailer...
The intriguing concept didn't have much to show for itself outside of a sliver of gameplay and the below concept art, though this at least seems like an interesting direction to take the Gaiden series after the poor reaction to Ninja Gaiden 3. It's planned for consoles, though the developers didn't get specific if they meant current or next gen, nor was a real release window given.
