Dec 10, 2007

In 2008, Blizzard will unleash the next wave of its World of Warcraft attack on the globe with the release of the fully localized Russian version.

Russian joins current officially supported European languages English, French, German and Spanish.

An official Russian WoW website is in the pipe and Blizzard is to reveal details on migration plans for existing Russian players closer to the release next year.

"Considering the scale and enthusiasm of the Russian community, we recognized that offering a dedicated Russian-language version of World of Warcraft was the next important step for the game in Europe," said Mike Morhaime, president and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment.

"We're looking forward to providing an even more accessible gameplay experience to current and future players."

World of Warcraft hit 9.3 million players worldwide this November. The population of Russia is estimated at 141,377,752 - talk about untapped potential.
