It's hard to imagine anyone other than Hugh Jackman playing Wolverine, but now that the actor has confirmed that Wolverine 3 will be his final outing as the claw-wielding superhero, could someone else take over the iconic X-Men role?
This is the exact question that Jackman was asked when promoting his new film Pan. "I've been asked that question a lot, and I'm always like, I don't want to make it too easy on the studio to replace me" he said. "I think Tom Hardy would be great."
Watch the interview below...
So, there you have it. Despite appearing as Logan, aka Wolverine, a grand total of nine times by the time he calls it quits, Jackman still reckons there's scope for a reboot starring someone else. There's no denying the character's popular, even if not all of his films have been hugely successful, so will the studio take his advice? Tom Hardy's agent should stay by the phone.
Jackman has also recently spilled some details on his final performance as Wolverine, explaining that the father/son relationship between Professor Xavier and Logan will be at the heart of Wolverine 3.
You can see Hugh Jackman next in Joe Wright’s Pan (don't forget to check out our review...), which hits the USA on October 9 and the UK on October 16.
