The Interview with the Vampire reboot is a thing that's happening

After Universal scored the rights to Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles series, it was just a matter of time before a remake of Interview With The Vampire made headlines. It's taken its sweet time, though, as we first heard about the possibility in 2014 when The Fault In Our Stars director Josh Boone became involved.

Back then it was reported that he'd take elements from two of Rice's novels and mush them together for a new movie called The Vampire Lestat. Things have shifted slightly since, as Boone recently posted this to his Instagram:

It's still blending two separate books together but looks to be retaining the title of the one that received a dedicated adaptation in 1994. You know, that piece of gothic melodrama with Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt and Kirsten Dunst. How Boone and co-writer Jill Killington plan to mesh Rice's popular tales together is unknown at this point, but it'll certainly be intriguing to see what similarities it shares with Neil Jordan's '90s movie. With Cruise currently at work on another Universal flick, The Mummy, wonder if he'll have time for a quick cameo?
