Spider-Man: Homecoming finds its Tinkerer with Michael Chernus

Despite being over a month into filming, Spider-Man: Homecoming is the film that just won't stop casting. However, while we still don't know who the likes of Donald Glover and Hannibal Buress are playing, that's not the case for the latest addition to the film's ever-bulging ensemble. 

Deadline is reporting that Orange is the New Black star Michael Chernus has signed on to Spider-Man: Homecoming in the villainous role of The Tinkerer. In the comics the character is a genius engineer who can invent complicated gadgets with little more than spare parts, so it's probably safe to assume that The Tinkerer will be giving Michael Keaton's Vulture some help with his suit at some point in the film. 

Chernus' casting doesn't strike me as a one film deal; In the comics The Tinkerer armed the likes of Mysterio, Scorpion, and others who held a grudge against Spidey, so I wouldn't be surprised if the character goes down a similar path in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. With the vast majority of MCU villains failing to make it to the end credits, at the very least this would make for a nice change of pace.

Directed by Jon Watts and starring Tom Holland, Marisa Tomei, Robert Downey Jr, Tony Revolori, Laura Harrier, Michael Keaton, Donald Glover and Zendaya, Spider-Man: Homecoming will swing into cinemas on July 7, 2017.
