Y’know, it’s weird. Just this morning, we were discussing how much we’d love to see the upcoming Uncharted movie be more like the Sopranos over our morning Scotches. Praise be, then, that David O. Russell is seemingly about to make our prayers come true,if his latest quotes are anything to go by.
Speaking to IGN, the director admitted he would be using a similar family dynamic as he had in The Fighter (his recent Oscar-nominated boxing flick) for Drake’s film. “If we take that family dynamic that we have in The Fighter, and put that in terms of a grander stage, with a crime family that metes out justice in the world of art and antiquities," he said.

Okkkaaaayyyy. We’ll hold on passing judgement just yet, because there’s a whole lot of fresh madness still to be spouted from O. Russell’s mouth. The director continued: "They're like the Sopranos in some ways, but they have great taste, and they have a sense of justice." Uh huh. So does this mean we’ll be performing drive-bys with Nate andhis popin the streets of Nepal?

Davey Boy wasn’t done, though. And he even gave further bizarre reasons why he wanted to make the Uncharted movie. "… because it's centred around a family, and I like the combination of criminals and truth. These guys, they're tough but they're working on this crazy case, and they can't do it without truth. I think that's cool" he said. Hmmm, strange. He must be referring to the little known Uncharted 2.5: Drake’s Suburban Bliss.
O. Russell did at least concede he is concerned about what gamers think about his upcoming picture, saying: "I want the gamers to be happy. I have total respect for the game. My kid loves playing it, I love playing it. I just want to create a world that takes it to another level, that's another amazing world that's more cinematic.”
In case you forgot, Nate will be played by Mark Wahlberg, while Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci are set to play his dad and uncle.

Playing devil’s advocate for a second, we actually really enjoyed The Fighter. Although a gritty, downbeat character study is hardly evidence that O. Russell will be able to turnDrake's silver screenoutinginto the light-hearted Indy-esque adventure most of us are hoping for.
