Belgian filmmakers Benoît Delépine and Gustave Kervern return with an often surreal road movie, which blends social commentary with deadpan humour.

Serge Pilardosse (an outsized Gérard Depardieu), a retired slaughterhouse worker, heads out on his motorbike to track down non-paying former employers.

It’s a vividly shot tale of bizarre encounters, in which our hero is haunted by a ghost (Isabelle Adjani) and inspired by his oddball niece (Miss Ming).

There aren’t as many belly laughs as in the directors’ Louise-Michel but Depardieu brings a touching vulnerability to Serge.
