There will be three versions of Injustice 2 when the game launches on May 16, NetherRealm and publisher Warner Bros. have revealed. A standard edition, Digital Deluxe Edition, and Ultimate Edition will all be available for the choosing, and which one you purchase will probably depend on just on how invested you are in DC mythology. And how much money you have in the bank.
You already know what the $60 standard edition comes with: the base game, including more than a dozen heroes and villains you can make beat the snot out of each other, plus a new gear-based customization system. The $80 Digital Deluxe edition adds a unique shader option for said gear, the first three DLC characters as they become available, as well as what's being called a "premier skin" for Supergirl. The $100 Ultimate Edition adds yet another shader, six more DLC characters, and premier skins for Flash and Green Lantern Hal Jordan.
Premier skins take existing characters and not only change up their looks, but also their voices and dialogue. In Supergirl's case, the skin transforms her into Power Girl - Supergirl's counterpart from an alternate reality. The premier skins for Flash and Hal Jordan turn them into Reverse-Flash and John Stewart, respectively.
Personally, I feel like I'd appreciate a bit more info on the contents of these special editions. While the idea of premier skins is an interesting twist on the idea of "clones" (fighters that are just one step removed from another character in the lineup, like Dr. Mario from Super Smash Bros.) it would be nice to know how much they're going to cost standalone. Ditto for the extra characters, which have yet to be revealed.
