AC-12 is back and, yup, that means Line of Duty season 5 is about to make its debut this Sunday on BBC One. It’s well worth a watch, too. There’s your fair share of back-stabbings and betrayals, plus what promises to be an action-heavy season as the brains behind Bodyguard, Jed Mercutio, brings us another dose of rogue cops and nail-biting cliffhangers.

But if you’re in the US, Canada, or elsewhere, you might not know how to watch Line of Duty season 5 online, either live or through an on-demand service. Which sucks. Thankfully, it’s a little easier than rooting out a police mole. We’ve divided it up per region with easy-to-follow instructions, so you’ll be safe in the fact that you know how to watch Line of Duty season 5 before Sunday’s premiere, and the weeks that follow.

As long as you’ve got a TV License in the UK, you’ll be able to watch Line of Duty season 5 both online and on BBC One when it premieres at 9pm on Sunday, March 31.

For those of you who aren’t around this Sunday, you can catch up via BBC’s iPlayer. Simply head over to the Beeb’s on-demand service and, just a few hours after it airs in the UK, you’ll be able to watch the opening Line of Duty season 5 episode.

Be warned, however, that it won’t stick around forever. All Line of Duty season 5 episodes will expire after 30 days. For episode 1, that’s April 30.

This is a little trickier, especially as Hulu – who typically show Line of Duty in the US – hasn’t picked up Line of Duty season 5 yet.

Instead, you’ll need to sign up to streaming service Acorn.TV if you want to watch Line of Duty season 5 in the US. According to a report from Deadline, Acorn.TV will show the episodes “in line” with the UK’s air date, though that hasn’t been confirmed as of writing.

Elsewhere, you’re going to have to make heavy use of VPNs. If you’re struggling with what ones to pick, then head on over to our best VPNs for Netflix page to explore which service is right for you.

For timeliness’ sake, we like ExpressVPN. It’s super easy to use and comes with a whole host of security options, so you can have that extra peace of mind. Once you’ve sorted your VPN, open it up and set a location to somewhere in the UK, such as London. You’re then going to want to head to TV Player and, possibly, set an alarm.

That’s because, unless you sign up to TV Player Premium, you’ll only have access to live broadcasts of BBC One and will need to tune in at 9pm BST/4pm Eastern. However, if you have TV Player Premium, which costs £6.99/month and is free for the first month, you’ll be able to watch on-demand at your leisure.
