Here's why those Game of Thrones characters travelled so fast in season 6

WARNING: This article is dark and full of spoilers.

While season 6 of Game of Thrones was largely excellent, it wasn't perfect. One criticism that became increasingly difficult to ignore was the impossibly fast travel of certain characters. Varys, for instance, somehow made it back to Meereen and Daenerys' fleet despite being in Dorne minutes earlier in the season finale. Game of Thrones writer Bryan Cogman has taken to Twitter to make his case, and you can check it out below...

Cogman's tweets make sense; While having everything line up chronologically has its merits, it would also stunt the show's momentum. Season 6 in particular has rifled through plenty of plot, and we would not have had nearly as many reveals if each episode had a scene of Varys and others making their way from location to location. It also wouldn't allow for surprises like the murder of Walder Frey in the finale if we knew Arya was making her way to Riverrun. As such, if the fast travel is the price we have to pay for better entertainment, then so be it.

Season 7 of Game of Thrones will debut in 2017.
