If you thought everyone's favourite bastard Jon Snow was safe as houses until the end of Game of Thrones season 7, you were very, very wrong. Kit Harington revealed to our sister magazine, SFX, that fans shouldn't assume his character won't be killed off just because he's already died before.
Talking during a set visit (read the full feature in the new issue of SFX magazine - on sale tomorrow), the actor revealed that he didn't feel safe at all. "I felt safe in season 6 because I thought it would be bad storytelling to kill me in the [same] season I'd been resurrected!" He said. "But as for seasons beyond 6, it's back to business. He's in mortal danger like anyone else."
Fans are well aware of George R. R. Martin (and the HBO show)'s tendency to kill off fan favourites (*sob*), but they might have assumed the new King in the North was safe given that we've already seen him kick the bucket once.
Admittedly, the show would loose a certain amount of entertainment value if one of the main characters, and contenders for the Iron Throne, was safe from harm, so I think this is a good thing... maybe... I'm going to regret saying that, aren't I? It's not all bad news though, Harington reckons we'll see a more optimistic side to Jon Snow in the new season...
"I think there is an optimism in 7, definitely at the start." He explained. "At the end of 6, being crowned King in the North, there's a small smile on his face. He can start getting stuff done, and start trying to save people and protect people, and do what he's been trying to do for ages. I mean, it's maybe not optimism - the world's fucking ending!" Oh right, that... I forgot about that.
