The developer behind Fallout 4 and Skyrim just got about 40 percent bigger. Bethesda Game Studios announced on Wednesday that it has opened a new office in Montreal, adding a "core team of more than 40 developers" for work on PC, console, and mobile development.
The core team of developers at Bethesda Game Studios only numbers around 100. Bringing in the Montreal team will significantly expand its operations, though they already have experience working together: inaugural director of Bethesda Game Studios Montreal Yves Lachance was previously senior VP & executive producer on mobile vault management sim / baby factory Fallout Shelter. He was also VP of product on Wolfenstein: The New Order, another fine Zenimax production.
Fallout 4 game director Todd Howard said he's excited "to think about the new games we’ll be building together.” It sounds like you should expect more mobile games in the vein of Fallout Shelter from the new studio, though hopefully that infusion of new talent will also help speed up work on Fallout 4 DLC and The Elder Scrolls 6: Where Those Cat People Come From Or Something. If you want to be part of that, or just see what the company's looking for, Bethesda has job listings posted for both of its locations.
