On September 6, Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 on PS4 gets Salvation, its final DLC pack; and with it comes Revelations, the final chapter in the Zombies saga - or at least, the Origins timeline. The Zombies mode, originally a fun Easter egg but now virtually its own game, debuted in World at War eight years ago.
As for that "Origins" bit: yes, there are alternate timelines and dimensions and… look, if you haven't been following along for the better part of a decade, I'll just sum it up with a hand wave and "wibbly-wobbly, timey-wimey, Cthulhu monsters are coming and you need to kill the bad guy to save your soul".
If you're not much of a Zombies fan, there will still be four new maps to enjoy in Black Ops 3 multiplayer. Two are all new: Citadel is an ancient castle with lots of close-quarters engagements, a moat, and a drawbridge, while Micro shrinks players down to do battle on a picnic table, with giant burgers and the like providing cover. It is silly.
The other two maps are re-workings of previous fan favorites: Outlaw is a re-imagining of Standoff from Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, while Rupture is a remake of Outskirts from World at War. Standoff is now wild west-themed, while Outskirts is a sci-fi tech facility.
As I mentioned above, this is the final DLC expansion for Black Ops 3, arriving first on PS4, and on Xbox One a month later. Hopefully that gives you enough time to get excited for Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, coming to PS4, Xbox One, and PC on November 4.
