Tony Head confirmed for the SFX Weekender

The British star of Buffy and Merlin packs his bags for the SFX Weekender in Camber Sands

Never one to set his sights low, Anthony’s West End acting debut in the '70s was as Jesus in Godspell, a role which was followed by a series of acclaimed stage performances. Notable roles on television followed throughout the '70s and '80s, including Enemy At The Door , Secret Army and Howard’s Way before a cup of coffee got him noticed all round the world.

His most famous role was yet to come though, as lovable librarian Rupert Giles in Joss Whedon’s seminal '90s series Buffy The Vampire Slayer , a character which he played for seven years (and possibly more if Ripper ever happens). The role won him adoration the world over and he hasn’t looked back since – guesting in the likes of Doctor Who , Spooks and Little Britain ; taking the lead (and proving “Once More With Feeling” wasn’t just a fluke) in cult favourite Repo! The Genetic Opera ; and appearing in dozens of productions on TV and film in the time since.

Anthony can currently be seen terrorising/ensuring the safety (depends on your perspective as he told us in issue 201 of SFX ) of Camelot in season three of Merlin but you can meet him in person at the SFX Weekender 2, where he’ll be participating in panels, a Q&A and signing autographs at the UK’s greatest festival of sci-fi. For all the latest information on Anthony head to his official website: http://www.anthonyhead.org .
