Mush Amelie , The Phantom Of The Opera and the giant bug from Mimic together and what do you get? A perplexing ’toon from Shark Tale co-director Bibo Bergeron that will bore the few children it doesn’t completely freak out.

Yes, there is a charm of sorts to this story of a magically mutated flea who becomes a singing sensation beside Vanessa Paradis’ pert cabaret star.

But between the Hugo -style nods to vintage cinema, Sean Lennon’s monstrous crooning and the Eiffel Tower climax, it’s hard to fathom who this 3D combo of horror, musical and twinkly retro nostalgia is aimed at.
