Ever since the CG ‘toon version of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (or TMNT, as it prefers to be called in its hip, modern way) pulled off a decent showing at the box office, word has been spreading that the producers were considering a new, live-action version of the story.
While nothing is even close to official yet, we now have confirmation that the team is indeed slowly plotting a Batman Begins-style reboot of the franchise from Turtles co-creator Kevin Eastman at the Heavy Metal web board .
Eastman says that they’re not ready to announce yet, but a likely plot would include exploring the beginnings of the Turtles’ main villain, Shredder. Whether this will follow the same story as in the comic or the 1990 film remains to be seen, if the new movie even sees the light of day.
