I've been struggling to justify the MTG Spider-Man gift bundle for some time now. It's a divisive set, but as a Marvel fan and collector of the best card games it's a set made for me. That didn't make the $89.99 launch price any less painful at the time. Amazon has settled those numbers this week, though, dropping the 10-bundle collection down to $59.99. That's just over $5 a pack, with a Collector Booster thrown in as well.
Considering just a single Collector pack will set you back $38.45 by itself at Amazon right now, that's excellent value. The MTG Spider-Man gift bundle has dropped its price before, but it's never kicked all the way down to $59.99. The best I've seen in the past is the mid-$60s, but we've been looking at the high $70s on this for a few weeks before this record-low drop.
With $30 off the final price, this MTG Spider-Man gift bundle is down at its lowest price yet, having previously only dropped to $64 when on sale. 9 play boosters give you plenty of fodder for deckbuilding, while a Collector Booster throws in all those lovely specials.
Includes:
9x Play Boosters
1x Collector Booster
1x Exclusive Alternate Art-Card Promo
30x Lands (including 10 alternate art)
1x Spin-down
The MTG Spider-Man gift bundle comes packaged with a bunch of boosters as well as an exclusive foil promo not available in other bundles or packs. Throw in a Spider-Man spindown and you're good to go.
Marvel Spider-Man play boosters hold a $6.49 MSRP per pack, totalling up to $58.41 total value for the nine you're getting here. With that Collector Booster thrown in, you're easily cleaning up here.
So what are you aiming for? In play, there are a few heavy hitters in this set.
The Soul Stone sees plenty of action for its solid mana rocking and late-game graveyard cycling with that indestructible peace of mind. Pull that full art and you're looking at a four-figure value right now, take home the cosmic foil and you're laughing.
Lizard, Connors's Curse makes a mockery of other ETB effects, weedling some of your bigger threats down to 4/4 lizards permanently.
Anti-Venom, Horrifying Healer, aside from offering some decent cash value, it's just a threat that takes a lot of taking down. Anything that swaps damage for +1/+1 counters is going to take some beating.
Electro, Assaulting Battery is seeing some strong action in Commander at the moment, generating a ton of red mana for you to use straight to the face when it eventually leaves the battlefield. If you can stay on the board with a Runaway Steam-Kiln, Flare of Duplication, and a Storm-Kiln Artist things can get hectic fast.
Multiversal Passage has been picked up by the competitive crowd for its sheer versatility. It's a simple choose-your-land trick, but it can be a lifesaver.
