Teens pile up in trailer for found footage horror The Gallows

A new trailer for found footage horror The Gallows has made its way online, proving that there’s still plenty of juice left in the genre which continues to put youngsters in peril and cameras right up in their faces.

The film hails from Blumhouse Productions, whose namesake Jason Blum gave horror a kickstart with the likes of Insidious, The Purge and Paranormal Activity, and focuses its attention on a new demographic. Directed by Travis Cluff and Chris Lofing, The Gallows follows a group of teenagers who pay homage to an old school play, which twenty years previously caused the death of its lead actor. Needless to say it’s not long before the bodies begin to pile up..

Check out the trailer below:

If there’s one thing teenagers in movies will never learn it’s that when someone suggests spending a night in an abandoned abattoir/mansion/convent then it’s probably best to make your excuses. But surely this bunch are safe hanging out in the theater department at school, right? Nope. No-one is excluded from the terror of creaky floorboards and TVs that switch on by themselves. Throw in that eerie cover of Nirvana’s Smells Like Teen Spirit - a plot spoiler, perhaps? - and there’s no way you’ll volunteer to paint the sets ever again...

The Gallows arrives in the US on July 10 and the UK on July 17.
