No, not a Sean Connery endorsement, but the infamous Des Lynam Mario Sunshine moustache stunt. Dying his lip warmer purple, Des said at the time “I’m pleased that the true worth of my moustache has finally been realised… I consider Mario a long-serving brother in arms, and long may we both wear our fine facial hair with pride.” Original plans for Des to don the FLUDD pack to spray interviewees during Match of the Day were sadly made up by us, just then.
