The last time we reported on Blade Runner 2 was back in April, when we learned that Drive actor, Ryan Gosling was in talks to star opposite Harrison Ford in the sequel. Well, it would seem that those talks were successful as Gosling was recently talking to press about his upcoming film The Big Short when he confirmed his casting in the long-promised follow-up.
Fans hoping for some more tidbits of information will be disappointed though, as the actor also said there's a chip in his head that will explode if he says anything else. Shame...
Watch his interview below...
The original 1982 Blade Runner is held up as one of the best sci-fi films of all time, so there's no question that Gosling and co will have their work cut out creating a sequel. That said, with Ford and Gosling on camera, and Villeneuve and Deakins behind it, it's not a quartet you'd want to bet against. Here's hoping their significant talents can coalesce to form a worthy sequel.
Directed by Denis Villeneuve and starring Gosling and Ford, filming on Blade Runner 2 is set to commence next summer, with a release date yet to be confirmed.
