Postlethwaite joins Solomon Kane

We know what you’re thinking… “There’s no way pulp drama adaptation Solomon Kane could get any more thespier.” But you’d be sadly mistaken.

Because director Michael Bassett has just added Pete Postlethwaite and Max von Sydow to a cast that already includes James Purefoy (as the titular lead), Rachel Hurd-Wood, Alice Krige and Pirates’ regular Mackenzie Crook.

Kane follows Purefoy’s 16th century soldier, a man troubled by his evil past who throws himself into a redemptive quest to save a kingdom. It won’t surprise anyone that it’s been adapted from Conan The Barbarian creator Robert E Howard’s novels.

Bassett starts shooting the sword-swinging mayhem later this month in Prague.
