Official PlayStation app coming to iOS and Android systems

Busy gamers will soon be able to keep track oftheir PSN trophies and all the latest PlayStation newswhile on the gothanks to a new PlayStation app coming soon to iOS and Android systems.

Announced today on thePlayStation Blog, Sony will soon be releasing an Official PlayStation App that will be compatible with iPhones and iPod touches running on OS 4 or greater, and Android devices running on OS 1.6 or better. It will be free to download and feature the ability to keep tabs on one's trophy progress, spy on online friends, gain instant access to PlayStation propaga- er, announcements, and share your love for all things Sony via integration with Twitter and Facebook.

Unfortunately, North Americans may have to wait a while to get their hands on the app as the first version is set to be released only in the UK, France, Spain, Italy and the Netherlands. Sony has said that a version for "most SCEE countries and languages" is in development, but gave no word on when it'll hit western app stores.

This being the only the first version, Sonyis planning to addmuch more functionality to the app as time goes on; meaning, if it's anything like the PSN, expect to be downloading an update every time you try to make a call.
