A representative for Ubisoft has told VentureBeat that the company has no plans to offer post-release Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag DLC on Wii U. While some DLC for the game is included in the AC4 Buccaneer Edition for Wii U, Nintendo console owners look set to miss out on a range of season pass content due for release by March 2014.
In addition to extra single player missions, in-game items and multiplayer characters, Xbox 360, PS3, Xbox One, PS4 and PC owners will be able to purchase a new side-story starring Adewale, who plays protagonist Edward Kenway's first mate in the main game. Set 15 years after Black Flag's story, the former slave turned assassin finds himself shipwrecked without friends or equipment on Saint-Domingue (now Haiti and the Dominican Republic), where he is drawn to aid local slaves seeking their own liberty across a roughly three hour campaign.
It’s worth pointing out that the Wii U owners received delayed access to Assassin’s Creed 3 DLC, although Ubisoft had always said it intended to release the content on Nintendo’s console at some point after its launch on other platforms.
In July, Batman: Arkham Origins publisher Warner Bros. confirmed that the Wii U version of the game wouldn’t feature a multiplayer component because the development team was focusing its efforts “on platforms with the largest MP audience".
