Next-gen Riddick: First footage

"It would benefit us to have a multiplayer functionality," teases Pete Wanat, exec producer on The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena, during this first ever video reveal of the game, aimed squarely at Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 later this year.

In his interview with GameHead, the videogame web show, Wanat talks about how this new/old game is bringing everyone back together who worked on the original Xbox version, subtitled Escape from Butcher Bay. Although, he stresses, the developer has changed more than just the subtitle, with new features making sure this isn't a case of just making the old game look prettier.

Well, actually, it doesn't even look much prettier to us. This is YouTube footage, so the quality isn't great, but we can't see much in the way of visual difference between the Xbox version and this new revamped edition. Fortunately, Escape from Butcher Bay was a fantastic game, and a new version with extras is welcome, plus hopefully the appearance of multiplayer will help make a two year old game feel more sprightly.
