A new TV spot and poster have appeared online for the new series of The X-Files, reprising the show's traditional tag-line of "trust no-one", and reintroducing the familiar shadowy figure of the Smoking Man. Throw in "the truth is still out there" and a hit of that conic theme music, and you’ve got yourself a full-on nostalgia fest!
The new "event series" will be six episodes long, and will combine a mix of standalone stories with an overarching narrative designed to further the mythology of the franchise. The first episode will see Mulder and Scully on reassuringly familiar ground as they investigate a case of possible alien abduction.
Check out the new spot below...
Maybe it's thanks of our unwavering love for the ‘90s, but damn if it isn’t good to see Mulder and Scully back on our screens again. And with appearances from the likes of Rhys Darby and Joel McHale to look forward to, there should be plenty for less backward-looking audiences too. Co-starring David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson, The X-Files will return on January 24 2016.
