Game Of Thrones continues to flesh out its supporting cast for season 6 with a new family set to make their debut.
With House Greyjoy ready to return to the spotlight thanks to the introduction of Euron Crow’s Eye, it seems that House Tarly is also going to make an appearance with James Faulkner heading up the family as Lord Randyll Tarly.
If the surname sounds familiar, it's because Randyll is father to Samwell Tarly, John Snow’s BFF up on the Wall. Macbeth actress Rebecca Benson and From Hell star Samantha Spiro have also been cast as Sam's sister and mother, respectively, with the three newcomers set to join Pitch Perfect's Freddie Stroma, who was cast as Sam’s brother Dickon earlier this year.
The end of season five saw Sam leaving the Wall in pursuit of a new career as a Maester. It’s unclear what would lead him back into the arms of his not-so-loving father, but we’d guess it has something to do with keeping Gilly and her baby safe while he heads off to the Citadel.
However, given that his father threatened to kill him if he didn’t join the Night’s Watch, it’s probably not going to be a happy reunion. More conflict to look forward to then, when Game Of Thrones returns next spring.
