The first Game of Thrones season 7 episode has aired and already there are questions. Like what was that house The Hound visited and who were the people there?
Obviously big spoilers so only read on if you've seen the episode.
In the first episode of the season, we see The Hound travelling with the Brotherhood without Banners. They stop off at an apparently abandoned house and discover things ended badly for the inhabitants when they find the bodies of a man and a small girl. There's a nearby knife and it's observed that the father probably ended both their lives rather than meet a slower, more painful end through starvation.
However, The Hound seems put out and later buries the bodies. That's because he knows them. Sort of. He met the father and daughter when they were alive way back in the season 4 episode, Breaker of Chains. At the time he was travelling with Arya and you might remember he beat a farmer and stole his money, telling Arya they was going to die anyway. You can watch the that scene here and note The Hound repeatedly saying, "they've both be dead come winter."
Obviously they did, and now that encounter's come back to haunt him. But he's a changed man since then, hence his apparently remorseful burial.
