Amazon announces Prime Day 2026 is coming sooner than you think
The annual members event has been shifted up the calendar
Amazon Prime Day will return in 2026, that much was always pretty much a given - but this year Bezos is moving the party forwards. The retailer has announced, via a blog post yesterday, that this year's sale will take place in June - a month earlier than its usual timeline would suggest.
We don't know exact dates yet, but that means Prime Day gaming deals could be heading our way in just over a month's time. Last time Amazon moved its event forward, it took place across June 21 - 22 back in 2021, so we could see a return to similar dates in 2026. The brand didn't elaborate on the reason behind the schedule change.
Is Amazon Prime Day good for gamers?
I've been tracking Amazon Prime Day deals for over six years now and, while 2026 is going to be a trickier year, I've always found record-low prices on some of my favorite gaming tech to shout about. You won't find the headline-grabbing discounts of Black Friday here, and Prime Day tends to stick to peripherals, accessories, and games rather than consoles or gut-busting PCs, but there's definitely gold to be found.

Last year saw retro handhelds dropping to some of their lowest ever prices, while original Switch accessories tumbled due to the launch of the new console. PC accessories generally have a good time here as well, with mice, keyboards, and headsets all taking heavier discounts than usual.
There are some pitfalls to avoid, though. Amazon doesn't traditionally do too well in the actual PC arena. Gaming laptops and PCs don't tend to offer great value on Amazon's shelves, even during Prime Day. Thankfully, though, we often see competing retailers launching their own sales over the same days - keep checking Best Buy and Newegg for bigger setup purchases.
