Prime Day gaming laptop deals have a tough task ahead of them this year. 2026 has seen component prices (and therefore laptop prices) surge incredibly quickly, and the last few weeks have incurred a serious lack of credible discounts. That's all changed today, with early discounts hitting a number of our favorite models - just don't expect Amazon to have anything to do with it.
Both Newegg and Best Buy are running their own competing Prime Day gaming laptop deals this week, and they're offering far better discounts overall. In fact, of my eight top picks today Amazon only features once.
While prices on some of the best gaming laptops aren't going to rival those of previous years, there are still RTX 5060s for the low $1,000s and RTX 5070s at the $1500 mark - and that's not something I've been able to celebrate for a few weeks now.
Quick links
- Amazon: starting from $699
- Dell: up to $1,330 off Alienware
- Best Buy: RTX 5070 from $1,299
- HP: up to $1,000 off Omen
- Lenovo: up to 30% off Legion
- Newegg: Acer from $999.99
Today's best gaming laptop deals
It's not a massive discount, but it does drop an RTX 50-Series gaming laptop under $1,000 - and that's difficult to do in the current climate. This Acer Nitro V 15 has skipped down to $949.99 in Newegg's early Prime Day gaming laptop deals, a solid starter rig.

It's a smaller saving, but this is still one of the lower prices you'll find for an RTX 5060 gaming laptop right now. The MSI Cyborg is definitely on the cheaper side in terms of feel - but puts its components first with an Intel Core 7 240H processor and 16GB RAM.

The Acer Nitro V 16S AI was at $1,200 at the start of the year - but like many other rigs it's shot up over the last few months. That means today's smaller $90 saving is worth keeping tabs on over Prime Day gaming laptop deals - especially with that 32GB RAM and 1TB SSD. This is still cheaper than it's been since mid-March as well.

This AMD build of the OLED Lenovo Legion 5 from above is a little more expensive, but if you're team red it's still a solid offer. You'd be hard pressed to find an RTX 5060 and a high-end panel like that in a sub-$1500 gaming laptop elsewhere nowadays, even if the saving itself is smaller.

This Acer Predator Helios Neo has sunk down to $1,399.99 on Best Buy's shelves this week, a solid rate going by the last few months. You're getting an OLED screen up top, running at the full 240Hz whack, with an Intel Core Ultra 9 processor at the helm.

Best Buy has a whopping $850 off the desirable Zephyrus G14 this week. That's a sturdy discount on one of the lighter configurations, dropping the luxury rig down to just under $1,450. That's a perfect study and travel companion.

This is a fantastic price not just on an RTX 5070 gaming laptop (in today's market) but also a slimline G16 model. That OLED display and portable form factor make for a premium feature set, all complimented with a $575 discount in Best Buy's early Prime Day gaming laptop deals.

The Asus ROG Strix G16 is $465 off at Best Buy this week, with that RTX 5070 Ti GPU standing tall up front. Granted, this time last year that would have been a decent deal, but not a breakthrough. In 2026, though, it's looking particularly sweet.

You're getting both power and portability in this RTX 5080 version of last year's Asus ROG Zephyrus G14, a premium combination indeed. That's why this gaming laptop usually comes in at $3,169.99, though a $470 saving drops that down to $2,699.99 at Best Buy this week.

Why are gaming laptop prices higher in 2026?
The current component crisis and RAM shortages are to blame for increased gaming laptop prices. As AI manufacturers hoover up all the memory, consume-facing brands are being squeezed. With higher demand comes higher prices, and it's the final product that sees the biggest sacrifice.
I'm seeing a number of gaming laptop deals working to circumvent these issues; dropping their memory sizes from 32GB to 16GB, reverting back to cheaper graphics cards, or dropping display specs. However, most of the rigs that have already left the factories in 2026 are seeing a serious upcharge.
Thankfully, there are still a few 2025 machines still kicking around - and they haven't felt the same purse pinch. While I've noticed slightly higher rates even on these older rigs, their numbers are much easier to stomach. Indeed, most of my top picks up above are a year old now.
If you're after something more substantial, we're also getting you ready for this year's Prime Day gaming PC deals and Prime Day monitor deals. Or, take a look at the Prime Day tablet deals we're expecting for something lighter.
