The new Hyperpop Collection adds a much-needed pop of color to the PS5 lineup
The Hyperpop Collection pre-orders go live on January 16
Sony just got me lowering the brightness of my display after announcing a new wave of incredibly bright and vivid PS5 accessories. Set to launch on March 12 later this year, the upcoming Hyperpop Collection was just announced via the official PS Blog and consists of three new striking red, green, and blue designs available as PS5 Slim console covers and matching DualSense PS5 controllers.
According to Leo Cardoso of the Hyperpop Collection Material and Finish design team, the loud Techno Red, Remix Green, and Rythm Blue colors are inspired by the glow of RGB gaming setups. However, in my eyes, they feel more like a fresh neon takes on the iconic colorings of the Cross, X, and Triangle buttons found on older PlayStation controllers. Either way, I'm here for it.
Unlike with past console covers and DualSense PS5 controller designs, Sony's design team has done a little more than simply wrap the accessories in bright colors and call it a day. As seen on the PS Blog announcement, each design features a nice black gradient that phases into the striking neon colorways and provides an eye-catching amount of contrast.
The contrast is even more noticeable on the DualSense controllers as the black wraps around both the front and back of the pads. Not to mention, the glossy textured coating, which Hyperpop design team member Sae Kobayashi shares, is also sound on the console covers, making the neon stand out even more, which I didn't think was possible upon first glancing at these distinct upcoming accessories.
Unfortunately, there's no PS5 Slim or PS5 Pro consoles dripped out with these neon colors if you were on the hunt for an entirely new PS5 console for 2026. That's a shame, as I could have been easily swayed to finally grab a PS5 Pro had I been able to grab this stunning Rhythm Blue version. These swanky new colors are also markedup in price ever so slightly, but that's pretty much the norm for these limited quantity designs and collections.
If you're eager to inject your PS5 setup with a dash of neon, the Hyperpop Console Covers and Dualsense controllers will be available to pre-order on January 16 for $74.99 / £64.99 and $84.99 / £74.99 at the PS Direct US and UK online stores, and select retailers at 10am local time.

Weekly digests, tales from the communities you love, and more

Ever since I first held a NES controller in my hand I've been obsessed with gaming, and the hardware it runs on. I could hook up a NES and SNES to a telly, without instructions, before I could walk. Even now, nothing is more exciting then taking a console, or handheld, out the box for the first time and setting it up. This obsession transformed into a love of games and game music, which lead to my music degree and dream of becoming the Scottish Nobuo Uematsu. After sharing my love of games through music, I began to share my love through words on sites like TechRadar and iMore. This lead to becoming a Hardware staff writer for PCGamesN, and later the Senior Tech Writer for Dexerto, covering all things Steam Deck, PlayStation and Nintendo. With that experience, I was able to level up as Hardware Editor for GamesRadar+, where I'm still just as Nintendo, PlayStation and gaming tech obsessed as ever.
