How to choose the best PlayStation gifts
Unless you've already got your own PS5 setup at home, it can be tricky to work out exactly what to buy for the Sony fan in your life. New controllers can get pricey real fast, and headsets can be worth hundreds of dollars. If you're only looking to spend $50 max I'd recommend looking at cheaper accessories and merch.
The former is a minefield. There are armies of cheap plastic brands vying for your attention on Amazon, and almost none of them are worth your time. Focus your attention on gadgets made by trusted, respected brands - the following have all passed GamesRadar+'s tests for value and reliability over the years.

Your safest bet is thumbstick toppers and controller skins at the very cheapest end of the spectrum. Not only are you getting something your recipient will likely use, but it doesn't necessarily matter if they already have some. This is stuff we need more of all the time, it wears down and a fresh set always feels fantastic.
The merch route is, in my opinion, far more fun - but you'll need to know your recipients favorite franchises. See if you can get an idea of their library and go from there. You'd be surprised how far these merch makers will extend their branding, from the obligatory mugs all the way through to cable tidies and even coffee beans.
If you're looking to spend a little more ($150 - $300), it's worth getting to know how your recipient plays. This is territory for a brand new pro controller or a top of the range headset.
