It seems someone has punched the leak button over at Lucasfilm because, after yesterday’s potential new release date for the Han Solo movie, Woody Harrelson is rumoured to be lined up to play Han Solo’s mentor in the Han Solo movie. From Cheers to Chewie? That’s quite a career path.
Having already taken up the mantle of mentor for Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games, Variety reports that Woody Harrelson is the “top choice” to teach Alden Ehrenreich’s Han Solo the tricks of the trade.
Here’s hoping Harrelson will teach Han the best way to shoot under a table. Or maybe how to navigate the Kessel Run in 12 parsecs?
The True Detective star has previous for light-hearted banter – check out Zombieland if you don’t believe me – and would be a great fit to give Han the arrogant edge he needs to battle the galaxy’s fellow rogues and ne’er-do-wells.
Plus, I’m totally calling Harrelson telling Han Solo, “Don’t get cocky, kid.”
Starring Alden Ehrenreich, Donald Glover and Emilia Clarke, the as-yet-untitled Young Han Solo spin off is scheduled to be released in 2018.
