Dark RPG Hell is Us teases what drives its story forward with a new trailer
"I was born here, but I grew up on the outside"
Rogue Factor has released a new trailer for the upcoming and gloomy RPG Hell is Us to tease its story further as we near its September release date.
Revealed as part of the Future Games Show at gamescom, we start with the narration, "I was born here, but I grew up on the outside. I spent years trying to get in." Naturally, we then get another voice asking why someone would ever want to do that – I don't know if you've seen any Hell is Us trailers, but the vibe isn't cheery.

Naturally, our protagonist does have an answer. He's here to find his parents and confront them about the past. The next beats of the trailer show worn down streets and buildings alongside those freshly murdered or struggling to get by. As I say, the vibe isn't cheery.
As we near the trailer's end, we return to the topic of our protagonist's parents. We only returned on a hunch, though we felt a connection to the gloomy hellscape upon returning to our father's blacksmith shop. Unfortunately, as it typically goes with stories, we end up caught in something larger. There's a larger mystery at play we end up tasked with solving, and plenty of the powers at be aren't happy we're here poking around.
Between the story beats and teases, we also get a sense of what moment-to-moment gameplay looks like. We're looking at an RPG with a greater emphasis on action where you hack and slash your way through otherworldly beings.
Hell is Us releases September 4, 2025 for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S.

When I'm not running the news team on the games side, you'll find me putting News Editor duties to one side to play the hottest JRPG of 20 years ago or pillaging the depths of Final Fantasy 14 for a swanky new cloak – the more colourful, the better.
