Upcoming JRPG Edge of Memories gets a new trailer, a new release window, and a masked villain who's clearly not going to hold back

Nacon's upcoming action JRPG, Edge of Memories, just got a new trailer at the Future Games Show, debuting new action, details on the characters and story, a new boss who's not holding any punches, and perhaps most importantly, a release window of 2026.

The new trailer depicts a fantasy world holding back against some kind of arcane corruption that mutates and malforms any living thing it touches into grotesque horrors. Even as the protagonist, Soul Whisperer Eline, fights against these creatures and solves puzzles to navigate, we see numerous antagonists working against her: among them, an enormous shadowy entity with four glowing eyes, and taking center stage, a masked figure in a cool hat who seems to have just about every superpower going.

Giving half the trailer solely to a multistage boss fight sounds peculiar at first glance, but it seems to serve as a pretty good showcase of what we can expect from the final game. High speed hack-and-slash action, bullet hell elements and timed counters, as well as our foe growing to enormous size and carving out valleys with magical lasers. Personally I see a bit of Furi in there, what with the colorful chaos of that encounter, though we'll have to see whether this is reflective of the game as a whole or just one aspect of it.

Edge of Memories is planned to release in 2026 on Steam, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. You can keep up to date with all info by following the game's official social media on X, at @EOSeries.
