Co-op survival horror game Dark Hours is getting a 1.0 launch this fall, but it's cosmic horror-themed Cruise Into Madness update is out now!
Betentacled eldritch entities await in Dark Hours
The latest update for Dark Hours, Cruise Into Madness, is available now, and the game will launch fully this fall, all revealed in a new trailer at the Future Games Show at gamescom.
The co-operative horror heist game launched into early access in October 2024, with its 1.0 release coming roughly a year after. While you wait, you'll also be able to try out the new cosmic horror-themed update, which introduces a new Cthulhu-esque squid monster and Nightmare Mode – this new difficulty option releases multiple monsters into the fray for a truly hardcore horror heist.
In Dark Hours, you play as part of a team of up to four players (or solo if you've got nerves of steel and are ready for challenge), pulling off heists that always seem to get interrupted by some supernatural monstrosity. You've got to gather as much loot as possible while also trying to avoid the threats posed by the location's security systems and the monster that's hunting you down.
You've got to work together, using stealth and your specialist equipment, to survive and get away unscathed. With monsters that gradually become more dangerous and difficult to deal with and procedurally generated environments, no heist is the same. But it's every thief for themselves at the end, with abundant opportunities to sabotage your allies so that you can get the best loot by the end.
There isn't an exact release date for Dark Hours' 1.0 launch but it's expected this fall on Steam.
