With Highguard crossplay, you can add and join your friends even if you're on completely different platforms. That means PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X players can all team up, but the game doesn't really explain its thankfully quite simple system veyr well - in short, you just need to add friends within Highguard itself using names the game generates for you. To help you add your friends across different platforms so that you can play Highguard together through crossplay, I've detailed the whole process below.
How to join friends through Highguard crossplay
Crossplay is on by default in Highguard, so you don't need to worry about activating it in any way, and it works for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X – yes, all three platforms can play together and Highguard does not separate PC and console players for crossplay.
The only thing you need to do is search for and add your friends so that they'll show up on your Highguard friends list, regardless of which platform they’re on:
- Start by clicking one of the + icons next to your player name in the top-right corner of the screen. This will open the game's Social menu. You could open the pause menu and select 'Social' instead.
- Get your friend to tell you their Highguard name. A player's Highguard name is also at the top of their friends list but over to the right, and it's just their platform account name followed by a hash and four numbers.
- Click the search bar at the top of your friends list and type in your friend's Highguard name. If you typed their name correctly, your friend's playercard should pop up.
- Click the playercard, then select 'Send Highguard Friend Request'. Your friend can then check the 'Highguard Friend Requests' tab on their Social menu to accept your request.
Now that you've hopefully got a friend or two on your Highguard friends list, you can team up via crossplay by clicking their name and selecting either 'Invite to Party' to allow them to join you or 'Join Party' to get into their lobby. From there, you can start queueing into matches where the first thing you'll do is choose which of the Highguard characters you want to play as. Although, I also recommend checking out our Highguard tips too!
How to turn crossplay off in Highguard
However, if you do want to turn crossplay off in Highguard and only play with those on the same platform as you, you can do so by opening the game's Settings menu, switching to the Online tab, and then setting 'Enable Cross-Platform Play' to Off.
Getting your pals to choose the best characters might help you win, but you'll all need to master the best Highguard weapons too.
