One indie developer is celebrating the fact that his new co-op adventure, Together: Moon Escape, has far and away surpassed the six other games he's released on Steam over the last 15 years.
Carlos Coronado today took to social media to rejoice. "You just broke my Wishlist chart," he tweets alongside a screenshot of Steam's developer backend that shows the Daily Wishlist graph shoot sharply up.
YOU just broke my Wishlist chart. Just to put things into perspective: none of my previous six games in 15 years reached more than 5,000 wishlists at launch. And yesterday alone, Together: Moon Escape was wishlisted by 10,500 players!!!!!!!! IN A SINGLE DAY!!!!!!!!!!! Thank… pic.twitter.com/YVLMVixNzV
"Just to put things into perspective: none of my previous six games in 15 years reached more than 5,000 wishlists at launch," Coronado, who also goes by CarlosGameDev, writes. "And yesterday alone, Together: Moon Escape was wishlisted by 10,500 players!!!!!!!! IN A SINGLE DAY!!!!!!!!!!! Thank thanks thank thanks thanks to everyone."
Article continues belowTogether: Moon Escape is a first-person, two-player puzzler set on an abandoned moon station that the game's Steam description calls an "extremely profitable slime empire," playable in both split-screen local co-op or online multiplayer.
Think It Takes Two, only without the expressive platforming and colorful levels. Essentially, puzzles are designed so you absolutely need to rely on your co-op buddy - you'll both have different tools required for the other person's progress and there's also a sprinkling of nonsensical fun throughout, like the poop geyser shown off in the trailer above.
"You are Moonfishers, specialized astronauts sent to the Moon," the game's Steam page explains. "Your employer? Moontella. A trillionare corporation extracting rare (and questionably carcinogenic) lunar slimes to supply high-end restaurants back on Earth. The job was simple. Until something went wrong. This is not your average serious space game. Expect absurd tools, ridiculous logic, and nonstop cooperation. Whether you're arguing over a puzzle or laughing at your partner falling into a crater (again), you’ll need each other to get home."
Together: Moon Escape is out now on PC, and already has some pretty strong user reviews. "If you like games like We Were Here, Portal or other work-together co-op games like It Takes Two, you’ll love this game," one such player writes. A free demo is also available if you'd like to give it a whirl before committing fully.
