Help a weird jellyfish to navigate his marriage crisis in bizarre action-adventure NetherWorld
Things will go from bad to worse for Medoo when his twisted tale begins on September 12, 2025
After his wife leaves him, down on his luck jellyfish Medoo heads to the nearest bar to drown his sorrows in alcohol, but he soon has more than marital blues to deal with when he's sucked into a dark and surreal journey. As announced at the Future Games Show gamescom showcase, you'll be able to join him on this wild ride when the game releases on September 12, 2025.
As you make your way through this pixel art underbelly you'll encounter all manner of decadent and filthy characters, from mobsters and sex workers to cokehead mages, who are just as likely to hinder as to help when it comes to putting your shattered life back together again. Will you be able to resist your primal urges and recover, or allow yourself to fully descend into the madness?
There are plenty of minigames to take part in, which are just as unhinged as the storyline itself. To earn money and items to progress you'll need to compete in drinking contests, shoot stuff, and have sex, while also guiding a tick named Joe through grubby roguelike underground dungeons. If it wasn't clear already by this point, NetherWorld is a game for mature audiences only.
Along the way you'll also encounter various brutal boss fights, where you need to fight for survival using whatever you have to hand. If you're lucky that will mean some sort of weapon, or at least an element of the scenery that you can use to your advantage, but sometimes you're left with nothing at all and will have to improvise a solution to get out alive.
NetherWorld arrives for PC via Steam and Nintendo Switch (in digital and physical formats) on September 12, 2025, but you can wishlist it now on Steam or the Nintendo eShop and check out the demo available on both platforms.
