The Wuchang: Fallen Feathers development team at studio Leenzee Games has reportedly been dissolved after the game's director was ousted last year.
Eurogamer highlights a report from SavePoint Gaming, corroborated by Chinese outlet Gamersky, claiming Wuchang director Xia Siyuan was dismissed sometime shortly before February 2026.
Remaining Leenzee developers were reportedly offered outsourcing work or shifts to other projects, but when the majority of the staff declined, the team was allegedly shuttered entirely pending "redistribution" within the broader organization.
If this sounds familiar, that may be because the dev team on The First Berserker: Khazan, a similar Soulslike action RPG, was also recently reorganized. Parent company Nexon told GamesRadar+ that the move was "not related to workforce reduction or team dissolution" despite reports of employees being surprised by the news.
Wuchang had its fans but was received more poorly than Khazan, notching a comparable 74 on Metacritic to Khazan's 78, but earning substantially lower reviews on Steam, a key platform, at 56% positive. Those "mixed" Steam reviews also demonstrate a unique and major snag in the game's release: a huge wave of negative user reviews at launch, largely from Chinese players.
There's a whopper of a red line on the game's Steam review graph, with 16,988 negative July 2025 reviews outpacing 12,507 positive ones. Complaints mentioned at this time seemingly inspired a large story and gameplay-weakening retcon in a later update.

With Wuchang's last major update, November's 1.7 patch, Leenzee said in a Steam post: "Since the game's launch, we have always cherished every piece of feedback — each suggestion is the driving force for the game's progress. Version 1.7 is now officially live. We are continuously optimizing game performance, fixing known issues, and unlocking the remaining exclusive expanded content for the Deluxe Edition. All users will receive Headgear Items as a reward. Thank you for your companionship and trust along the way."
