Sometimes, we watch a video for a game and don’t get any idea of what it’s really about. “Where’s the gameplay?!” we’ll yell. “What’s with all of the cutscenes!” That’s not what happened when we watched this walkthrough video for Deus Ex: Human Revolution’s Missing Link DLC. On the contrary – we almost felt as though Square-Enix went too far into things by having Mary DeMarle, lead narrative designer, narrate all five minutes of this trailer.
Some of the info was worth hearing about; we were happy to learn that the game’s engine and lighting were improved. Finding out that it takes place on a cargo ship after Jensen has had his augments stripped away was cool, too. But seeing where Jensen gets his first weapon? Too much information. Getting tips on which enemies to sneak by in the beginning? That’s just overkill. If you're still on the fence you might as well watch it to find out if it's going to be worth your money, but if you're already sold go ahead and skip the video. Go in fresh, and get the most out of it.
