Microsoft's trio of Day One special edition Xbox One launch games have eye-catching minimalist boxes, but their in-game goodies were unclear up until now. A post on the Xbox Wire news blog has clarified what bonuses retail pre-orderers--and digital purchasers who buy within the first two weeks of launch--can expect for their early commitment.
Dead Rising 3's Day One edition comes with two familiar costumes and associated perks. Make Nick Ramos look and act like he's covered wars, y'know, with a Frank West outfit and boosts to melee damage and survivor health. Or give him the Chuck Greene treatment with a more durable and damaging Paddle Saw, and general perks to vehicle and weapon durability.
Pledging your loyalty to Ryse: Son of Rome early will net you a Legionnaire's Trust sword with "bonus in-game attributes." It also unlocks a special horde-mode multiplayer map called Ruins, set in an abandoned temple. Don't worry if your friends didn't get the Day One Edition, as long as one person has Ruins unlocked that player can invite others in.
Finally, Forza Motorsport 5 comes with three cars specially tuned and detailed for the Day One Edition: a 2010 Audi TT RS Coupe, a 2013 Ford Focus ST, and a 2011 Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Superleggera.
Really, though, it's all about those monochromatic boxes.

I got a BA in journalism from Central Michigan University - though the best education I received there was from CM Life, its student-run newspaper. Long before that, I started pursuing my degree in video games by bugging my older brother to let me play Zelda on the Super Nintendo. I've previously been a news intern for GameSpot, a news writer for CVG, and was formerly a staff writer at GamesRadar+.
