Dark Souls 3 boss guide - how to defeat every top tier enemy

Yhorm the Giant

Deep beneath the Boreal Valley is the Profaned Capital. You might expect to find giants above ground, but this is where Yhorm calls home. And you’re not welcome.

If you know the trick, Yhorm is a total pushover. If not, you’ll be futilely attacking his legs and doing almost nothing to his health bar. Once the fight begins, run toward Yhorm’s throne and loot the item off the corpse there – it’s the Storm Ruler, a greatsword that’s super effect against giants. Pretty convenient, eh? Now all you have to do is two-hand it, charge it up with the parry button, then unleash its special wind attack with the attack button. A few blows from this, and Yhorm will go down.

But of course, he won’t just stand around. Yhorm’s attacks consist of sweeps and slams, both of which can be easily avoided by rolling between his legs. He may also burst with energy, knocking you back. This does no damage, but it will interrupt you if you’re trying to charge up the Storm Ruler. After taking two or three blows, Yhorm will buff himself with fire energy. This adds more damage to his attacks, so be sure to keep rolling. His energy burst will also damage you now, so back off if you see him charging it up.

Yhorm the Giant may be a Lord of Cinder, but he’s a chump. Grab the Storm Ruler and topple this towering boss.
