Caity Lotz Cast As Arrow's Black Canary

The Black Canary will be heading to the CW’s Arrow in season two… but she won’t be the alter ego of established character Laurel Lance (played by Katie Cassidy), despite the fact that Lance is the Black Canary in current DC comics continuity (she was introduced in 1983).

Instead the show has cast Caity Lotz ( Death Valley , The Pact ) as Dinah Drake, the alter ego of The Black Canary in the comics from the creation of the character in 1947 until Lance took on the identity.

Drake will initially appear as a recurring character, making the transition to a regular character later in the season. [via The Wrap ]
