Daisy Ridley blew JJ Abrams away with her powerful audition for The Force Awakens

WARNING: This article contains spoilers for Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

There are at least two things fans tend to agree on when it comes to Star Wars: The Force Awakens - BB-8 was awesome, and Daisy Ridley killed it as Rey. The fact that it's the actress' first feature film only makes it more impressive.

We'll finally be able to own The Force Awakens on DVD and Blu-Ray from next week, and in the past month we've gotten several sneak peeks at some of the special features. The latest comes courtesy of Buzzfeed, who premiered footage of Ridley's impressive audition. Check it out below...

The clip features some sound bites from writer-director JJ Abrams, who notes that "This character needed to be vulnerable and tough, sweet and terrified. And to find someone that no one knew who could do all these things took a lot of looking. It wasn’t until we found Daisy that we just felt like she was capable of doing all of these things this character required."

Even with the little snippet of audition tape in the video, it's easy to see why Ridley won the role. That crucial balance between fearlessness and insecurity is very evident here, and I'm really looking forward to learning more about Rey in future Star Wars episodes.

Directed by JJ Abrams and starring Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, and Adam Driver, Star Wars: The Force Awakens will be available to digital download on April 11, 2016, and out on DVD and Blu-Ray on April 5, 2016 in the US and April 18, 2016 in the UK.
