Without going too heavily into spoilers territory, it can be said that Life is Strange is a game that deals heavily with themes of bullying. And while simply telling a story about the issue is encouraging, publisher Square Enix is putting its money where its mouth is by donating to PACER’s National Bullying Prevention Center.
From now until January 19th, Square Enix will make a donation to fight bullying for each social media post using the hashtag #EverydayHeroes. According to the drive's official website, the idea is for people to share stories of how they "overcame adversity, stood up for what's right, or helped a friend in need."
Speaking from my own experience, I was bullied fairly often as a kid. Things didn't usually get physical, but I would still come home from school hating myself and feeling alone. For me, the everyday heroes were the friends and family who took the time to ask me to hang out and make sure I felt included. I don't know that I fully appreciated it at the time, but looking back I can see it meant a lot. Listening to someone, inviting them to be a part of things - sometimes that's all it takes.
