Nintendo bringing Super Mario and Zelda 3DS bundles for Thanksgiving

American 3DS hopefuls will have two more reasons to be thankful this Thanksgiving, as Nintendo has announced it will be filling retail shelves with two new Black Friday 3DS bundles starring a certain plumber and his plucky Hylian friend.

Available starting November 24, the first bundle will include a Flame Red system and the newly released Super Mario 3D Land (a game we liked a whole bunch ). The second bundle will honor Zelda's 25th Anniversary with a limited edition Cosmo Black 3DS adorned with a Hyrule Emblem and a copy of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D - the same one we drooled over when it was revealed for Europe a few weeks back. The packs will retail for $199.99 each, however they have been spotted in Best Buy's leaked Black Friday ad for $179.99 in case you want to brave the hectic lines and elbow-flailing of deal-hunting mothers.

Nintendo is also setting up demo promotions in malls across the US to allow fans a chance to get hands-on with both titles. A full list of participating malls has been collected here.

Last month, Nintendo reported it will post losses of up to 20 billion yen ($264 million) by March 2012, the end of its 2011 fiscal year, with the loss is being attributed in part to lackluster sales of the 3DS. However, the last price cut, recent release of titles like The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D and Super Mario 3D Land, and these latest deals should help the handheld make up for lost revenues over the holidays.
